Stupidly, I had never considered using CAD as a medium for life study despite using the software for drawing buildings since the early nineties. Then one summer afternoon in the sitting room… ah…

A curious experience this, as even though every line is so clearly defined, with no evidence of rubbing out or change of thought, no ghosting or variation in line thickness, I could simply move anything anywhere and leave no trace of what had previously been done. In fact, to some extent nothing actually belonged anywhere, the figure simply floated in a digital environment. If I were to switch off the computer she would disappear. Would this be the equivalent of the painting vanishing once the gallery had closed? The temporary nature of the medium paradoxically enables it to be infinitely replicated. I thought the black and white is symbolic of these extremes.
