The Biro Sessions
Yesterday (all my troubles)
Biro on reclaimed board
Jan - Apr. 2019
I was very proud to be honoured with the Elsie Holland award from the Wolverhampton Society of Artists in October 2021
Reclaimed materials hold time within their fabric and across the surface. They have absorbed events, benefited and suffered, like the face of mountain or an old person. By drawing or etching onto this medium I feel like I am borrowing the time it holds and placing the subject into it as a setting so said subject lives in this new environment.
The figure looks behind, possibly into the past yet its reflection is in front, projected ahead.

A specific detailed drawing from a photograph I took of the perennially sleeping feline. Except when any human is near his bowl that is, then he’s very alert!
