She
She is pretty on pavement,
Legs to one side,
Looking all elegant,
But lost in hollow time
She’s suspended in space,
A child passes in his pram,
Her pale broken face,
His destiny mother plans
Her stars have turned back,
They are fading, numb and blue,
What meaning can she attach,
To this heart which secludes
Who caught her fall to earth,
Or has she been here since birth,
She neither begs nor pleads,
Will she ever rise from her knees,
She says nothing and less,
And wears sallow distress,
She so needs a warm heart,
But my bus does depart…
And if I were ever to return,
Would I find her name on slab,
Has this moment been spurned,
But when did I ever care a damn.
Would she still be waiting there,
Or has this moment been spurned,
And was it intrigue which I cared?
Would she be the one that I thought,
What once was frozen has now thawed.
make sense of this vacuum
Vacant heart contracts,
With a ghostly hue
Stars burn silently,
And sleep never die,
But not hers, never hers,
She regrets, oh the regret,
For the love that was spurned,
Now she shivers like a death
Propped still on one hand,
The child
Drifting in no woman’s land,
Across paving slabs,
Still she reclines as one would,
Like on living room rug,
Except this loveless concrete,
and Tesco shopfront,
Where has she come from,
And if I were ever to return,
to find an empty paving stone,
would you wish I follow

Twas already failin’ before it began,
Why did it all plummet
And hers may be too,
But not one she’d ever choose,
(Her sight is blinded by her lost soul, )
